Life is not always easy, and that’s a good thing, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time. A life without challenges is a boring one and one that you won’t feel you have achieved anything in. It might be easier, but it won’t be as fun or exciting, and missing out on these elements of life would be a big shame; living life to the fullest, in whatever way that suits you, is a much better idea.
However, when you are intent on doing this, things can become rather complicated. When you have a lot of things happening all at once, when you’re incredibly busy, you might think you’re getting a lot done when the reality is that you’re not really doing a lot at all. With this in mind, here are some great tips on simplifying your life and ensuring that you don’t miss out on the important things because you are so busy.
Life can get very complicated indeed when you try to be what you think other people want you to be. This is even more true if you are trying to please a variety of people in this way; you’ll have to try to remember what personality traits you were presenting to each different person, and this isn’t just confusing; it’s exhausting as well. Plus, pretending to be someone you’re not for the sake of someone else is never a good idea; you won’t be happy, and what’s the point in being miserable? This is your life, after all.
Instead of being lots of different people, just be yourself. This might be difficult at first if you have been used to putting on a front somehow, but it will be worth it to uncover the real you to everyone around you and yourself. When you can be yourself, you’ll know that the friends you surround yourself with like you for you, plus you’ll make better decisions because you won’t be trying to do what you think others expect you to do.
Don’t Buy Stuff
If you want a simple life, you really don’t need quite so many possessions. In fact, the less stuff you have around you, the simpler you can live. So if you feel you have a lot of items in your home that aren’t useful and that you don’t even like too much (or wouldn’t miss if they were no longer there), why not make a charitable contribution? This will make you feel good, make your home (and therefore life) much simpler, and you’ll be helping other people too. It’s a positive situation to be in and will help you achieve your goals, so it makes a lot of sense.
Clear Your Mind
It’s great to declutter your home, and if you can turn that into a gift of giving, it’s even better, but what about your mind? When life is complicated, and you’re trying to fit in too much, your mind is going to become overwhelmed, and you might even start to experience burnout or a similar problem. When that happens, you won’t be able to achieve any of your goals; at the very least, they’ll be postponed until you recover. So, it’s important if you want to live a simpler life to ensure your mind is not too full. Meditation will help hugely, as this allows you to empty your mind (as far as it’s possible) and refocus. However, any kind of relaxing activity such as reading a book, watching a movie, or listening to music will help you feel a lot less stressed.
